This offer is in response to ongoing objections to my intransigence from jay, ssg, and others. It is not a rule proposal.

The deal is as follows

-put a tiny gold star gif in front of my name, displayed on all posts. This gif is exclusive to me, and no other player will have a specially adorned name
-on the player list, put me in a special section at the very top called "players who were given a special gold star to shut up and play right"

In exchange for this deluxe treatment, I will:

-immediately abandon my sockpuppet Abron
-never engage in further sockpuppetry
-vote "yes" on every proposal until some form of majority rule is brought in or the next 5 proposals, whichever is greater
-stop doing anything that might be interpreted as "role playing"

This offer is withdrawn if not approved by a simple majority before 310 goes to vote.

This is assuming our master computer whiz host jay has the technology to make this feasible - but if he can set up this drupal, and if he can make Spinach dip like this, I figure he can do anything.

I respect 1's opinion so much I'm going to vote No. This has no bearing on implementation if passed.

I reject and denounce the poll's title: he was already playing right. But this too is playing right, and it seems to be what he wants, and most importantly it makes passing majority rules in 310 much more likely. So I reluctantly vote yes, and may God have mercy on Abron's soul.

Oooh, a deadlock. While there may be much hope for the outcome to be favourable, I also must consider proper implementation, and vote no.

The idea of paying someone to be an upright player rubs me the wrong way, regardless of how trivial the payment is. I think encouraging this behavior ("hold the game hostage till you get your way") would be a really bad idea.

I personally believe I have been an upright player from day one, volkspider. It is a case of others wanting me to play in a very different way, and I am agreeable to modifying my play style in exchange for these meaningless baubles. What's to lose?

Sock puppets are frowned upon all over the internet. How can you believe that being a childish brat should entitle you to a bauble?

I prefer to think of myself as a master strategist, jeblis. It helps me sleep at night. Now vote yes for my gold star or I am going to hold my breath until my face turns blue.

I'd much rather AAA hold the game hostage until he gets a gold star than hold the game hostage until the only rule change he will accept is proposed. Everyone is well aware that they can hold the game hostage if they desire (and a few seem to be doing so), so it seems a bit odd to claim that AAA is holding the game hostage when he is actually promising to not do so.

You know how parents stick a soother in their kids' mouth to get them to shut up? Think of the gold star as a soother.

I changed my vote to "yes" for a lot of complicated reasons that would break the character limit.

Jay, since you are follow my lead on this important issue I heartily encourage you to change your vote as well.

SubWolf is not yet a player, so at least for the moment his vote doesn't count. Apologies, SubWolf, such is the state that ctmf has placed you in.

I think that based on ctmf's most recent ruling, jay is obligated to ban the SubWolf account for voting in a poll.

Re-reading the judgment it would appear that it is now at jay's discretion, as a TOS violation, what to do about a non-player voting in a poll. How will you deal with this grave transgression, jay?

I'm change my vote per 1's change of vote, having delegated my authority on this matter to someone paying attention.

SubWolf's ban can be immediately challenged when 310 is posted. Or sooner if ctmf feels forgiving and SubWolf gets an advocate.

Do we know for sure that Abron is Aaron's sockpuppet? Besides just his claim that is? I woudn't put it past him to use this ploy to kill off someone else's sockpuppet, or in other words to be playing a deeper and tricksier game than it appears.

I'll vote yes anyway because I don't care one way or the other about baubles.

jay, do you mean something along the lines of "The people have spoken, and they want Abron to remain part of our community"? I guess that would be a win of sorts, too, but not the glorious radiant victory I truly crave.

I meant, I hoped the extra accounts here were to demonstrate that democracy can be manipulated, and to challenge the group to form a more resilient ruleset, not as an actual ploy to gain ground.

I have only ever controlled one sockpuppet, AAA Abron B Abronson. Although there is no way for me to definitively prove that to you, please note that part of my pledge here is that "I will never engage in further sockpuppetry". I understand that to mean I won't create sockpuppets, I won't log in as a sockpuppet. Not ever ever no way. Do you really think I'd put my precious gold star at risk like that?

And also realize, backseatpilot, that if you take me at my word that means that there are MORE THAN ONE evil puppetmasters currently active in this game. I'm actually the least evil of this reprehensible bunch, as I am up front about it and, inshallah, soon to be the ONLY player who has made a firm and enforceable commitment to not do that bad evil thing.

I did assume from the start that there were several people with sockpuppets. Possibly I'm being a chump by not joining in.

Oh, shoot, I forgot that I was supposed to wait until this was settled. Well, it looks to me like this is settled. Aaron gets his star and has to vote yes for some sort of majority rules for five turns.

(Final vote was 7-3 with four abstentions. That's a clear pass. Also AAA Aaron A Aaronson gets a ban.)

Yes, but not a majority. Aaron made it clear everyone needed to vote before 310 was posted, else a simple 2-to-1 vote would have sufficed. The legal list of voters contained "14 players total, 8 players needed for a majority vote." This poll failed to receive a positive vote from a majority of players.

Well, he said clearly "It is not a rule proposal," so there's no reason to think that the remaining votes aren't legitimate abstentions. (There's no mandatory voting on side polls.) We can only invoke the judgment of the wise AAA to see whether the overwhelming support of those who chose to vote is sufficient for his purposes.

It is sad to see Abron go, and I am sure we will all miss him, but we all need to make the occasional sacrifice for the greater glory of myself personally.

As a side note to jeblis: sorry, friend, that this hasn't gone as you wished. You may certainly try to have a penis logo placed by my name, but based on your most recent performance I think you lack the diplomatic skills necessary to bring it off. I recommend warmth and carrots, sir, and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
