Since tallus left a "yes" vote in advance, by my count this has failed. When ctmf takes points it'll be time for 309.
The "total votes" number includes tallus's vote, even though it's not shown on the voting tally--if you count up the votes listed on the voting tally, there's 15 there, so the "16" shown includes tallus. We're still waiting for bonobo to vote.
Nevermind -- bonobo has yet to vote. If someone wants a judgment to remove her from the player list, I'd support that, but there's no real rush as flatluigi has yet to post anything for 309.
Has anyone emailed flatluigi to tell him/her that we are waiting for a proposal?
I'm around, don't worry.
Bonobo logged in less than a week ago.
ctmf, I think it's time to take your points so we can move on. IF NO ONE INVOKES JUDGMENT OVER IT (hint), we can move on without any further delay.
Nope. Not until every player participates.
It shouldn't need pointing out, but this situation is exactly what this proposal was about. Good job everyone not passing it (or more to the point, Chuck's proposal, which would have made this one pass).
Yes, I'm pissed, and not because it was my proposal. I'm pissed because the last two proposals were SO BLINDINGLY OBVIOUSLY what we need, and there are still people who will get so wrapped around the details that they'll sacrifice the goal for it.
ctmf, bonobo may not be coming back. I'll give her another day, but then I'll invoke judgment. If she's not coming back, she's not a player anymore, and so every player has already participated...
If someone wants to invoke judgement and have bonobo removed from the list, I'm OK with that - we've already established that that's the only way to move on legally.
"Nope. Not until every player participates."
You know how our tradition goes around here, you naughty monkey. The players have, by definition, participated.
There is no tradition. There are only rules.
212 refers to "game-custom", do forgive me for my shorthand.
Game-custom only applies where the rules are silent. By Rule 305, I cannot close the vote until bonobo, who is a player barring judgement to the contrary and therefore an eligible voter, participates.
The fact that players who didn't vote on previous turns were considered not players then does not make an unstated rule that that will always be the case. It's possible (and likely, I'd guess) that a judge could rule the same now, but it's not an automatic action.
So AAA didn't want 48 hours because it's too long, yet this was posted last Thursday, it's now Wednesday and the next vote hasn't started. How is cutting that down to 48 hours going to slow things down?
This is getting frustrating. Unless someone changes their mind we're never going to get the game actually going properly, and since I'm right (i.e. 48 hours is plenty slow enough and a damn sight faster than what's been happening) it won't be me.
And rule 212 only says the judge has to consider game custom. There's no reason why they can't consider it to be stupid and reject it, then make judgement as they see fit.
players subtract 291 from the ordinal number of their proposal and multiply the result by the fraction of favorable votes it received, rounded to the nearest integer.
Ordinal number of proposal: 308
291 from the ordinal number of proposal: 17 (a)
For: 12
Against: 4
Total votes: 16
fraction of favorable votes it received: 0.75
fraction of favorable votes it received, rounded to nearest integer: 1 (b)
291 from the ordinal number of their proposal and multiply the result by the fraction of favorable votes it received, rounded to the nearest integer: = (a) * (b) = 17
Plus (-10) from Rule 206: 17 + (-10) = 7 points.
I see what you did there.
heh. Seven minutes.
It's really 3.
I think all the previous scores need to be readjusted.
