Before you can start buying shares, you need a blog to buy shares in! Look here:
*Stock Tips page, where you can often find fairly new blogs in the game.
*Blogs Added Today: Up to 2000 of the newest additions to the game
*Recently Indexed Blogs: 500 of the most recently indexed blogs.
*Search: Input a term into the Search form on the right-sidebar and select 'Title' to return blog title matches, or input a URL and select 'URL' for a specific blog.
*QuackTrack Interface: QT will return more search results than the BlogShares search.

Time Restrictions
BlogShares marketplace limits the ability of players to make a rapid succession of share buys and sells on the same blog.
Successive Buys OR Sells
You must wait 20 minutes between two purchases or two sells of shares in the same blog.
Buy then Sell OR Sell then Buy
You must wait 6 hours between a purchase and a sell in the same blog. Players selling shares must also wait 6 hours prior to purchasing shares in the same blog.
Buying Shares
From the page of the blog you wish to purchase shares in, scroll down to the Share Market, and click on "Buy Shares". If the number of available shares is greater than 0, enter the number of shares you wish to purchase and click "Buy Shares." A confirmation page will display a successful purchase. If you did not have enough cash to make the purchase, this will be described on the page instead. Please Note: You can only buy 25% of the total shares in a blog in any one purchase. For blogs with 5000 shares total, this means a purchase is limited to 1250.
If there are no public shares to purchase, you cannot simply purchase shares. You can wait to see if one of the current owners sells shares back to the market. Or, you could consider engaging in Artefacts play.
How to Sell Blog Shares
From the Blogs.php page of the blog you wish to purchase shares in, scroll down to the Share Market, and click on "Sell Shares". Enter the number of shares you wish to sell and click "Sell Shares." You may sell all of the shares you own in any blog as long as doing so is allowed by the time restrictions described above.
Market Orders
It is possible to set up market orders to buy or sell shares of blogs in BlogShares. This can be a bit tricky, so head over to Advanced Shares: P/E, Orders, Pricing, Artefacts for more information.
Basic Strategy
When just beginning to play, it is important to understand how to affect blog share prices. The basic strategy to start the game is fairly simple:
Buy 1250 shares in a very underpriced blog. You can easily find such blogs on the Stock Tips page. Generally, try to find blogs with a P/E under 20 and priced under $5.
Wait 20 minutes and buy 1250 more shares.
Repeat Buying Shares until you own all 4000 (1000 are reserved for the owner, even on unclaimed blogs).
Wait 6 hours
Sell off 250 shares at a time until the P/E approaches 250, then sell all remaining shares.
Using this strategy on one blog, over the span of about eight hours, will easily double your net worth and may increase your holdings a hundredfold with some blogs. Once you get the feel for this, expand your play to include multiple blogs. Eventually, within a short span of time, you will be ready to move on to Advanced Shares: P/E, Orders, Pricing, Artefacts.
Gifting Shares
Any player can gift shares of a blog to another player. Simply visit the user page for the person you wish to send shares to. Click the Gift tab, and fill in the appropriate information. Please note that there is a 29-owner limit for Blogs.
