In light of all the wonderful changes to the game, and the slight overuse of our brains, we want YOU to help us on this one.
Adam has noted that the blogshares homepage is well, kinda dull sometimes - and we think we can make it better.
Homepage Improvement Suggestion Contest
So, this contest is a bit different -
Background:
We want to make the homepage a bit more enticing for players - and, since we like to think big, we also found a little toy called iGoogle - and we like it. So, perhaps, with a little love, we too could have our own personalized home page in the BlogShares world.
What We Need From You:
- When you start your blogshares day, what is the first page you load?
- If the hompage had modules that you could select, what kind of data / information would you want in them?
Awards and Rewards: ...And the mighty B$ one waved his hand and said
- Any serious quick answer deserves 1 chips - and it was so
- A serious answer posted on a blog that is at least a paragraph long deserves more chips, 10 chips even - and it was so
- A great idea deserves still more chips, 100 chips even - and it was so
- The BEST idea deserves even more chips, 1000 chips even - and it was so
And the mighty B$ one smiled down upon the chips given to be given, and it was good.
(Next week, the mighty B$ one shall be taking over the world - please stand by)
Award Limits: And then sadly, the not-so-mighty B$ adjuster ran screaming into the room and said:
- The serious answer prize is one-per-user
- The number of the "best idea" prizes shall be one, and one shall be the number of prizes. Not two, nor three, and certainly not four or zero.
- The number of prizes per user shall be based on thier best entry as well. The shalt not be crazy double dipping
And the people grumbled, but it was so and so it was and shall be. (Unless of course, someone amazes us, then perhaps the GIC will correct the mistakes of the dreaded Adjuster)
System Limitations:
The contest system only supports answers of about 250 characters or so - SOOOO, if you have an amazing idea that needs explanation, how about a blog post? Conveniently, the system allows links, and title, and a brief summary to be added - wasn't that a good idea?
Changes from the usual contest routine:
This contest is set to end in a month - if we have an overwhelming response, it may end sooner - or, it may stay open longer to allow even *more* great ideas. Who Knows?
Also note that since this is an official contest of sorts, donations are closed - if you really want to add something to the pot, contact the GIC directly!

| Blood Spite | Idea's Market | When purchasing Idea's via the Market a fast link to create an artefact (when applicable) would be a lot nicer than constantly going hunting for your artefacts in your Idea's list (Updated: 13:06 14 Feb 2008) |
| Chaitanya Mandava | Unknown | Modules I would love to have are PROFILE, Ideas needed, Artes available for use, chip market (premium users, ofcourse), Portfolio, messages, missions, and Corporations. (Updated: 16:45 10 Feb 2008) |
| Minerva | Unknown | For me, profile, needed ideas and the ideas market as I need to check immediately what ideas I am missing out on. :-) Then a quick check of my mail box to see if anyone has sent me thousands of chips or taken any of my blogs, followed up by routine maintenance of my ideas and shares folders! (Updated: 07:51 02 Feb 2008) |
| The Ixxperience | Two Things I Always Do | Two things i always do right when i get on after a long break: 1) Open up all my idea folders and sort by ideas available. buy up the ones i am hunting. 2) Open up all my shares folders and sort by PE low/high and right in the 700pe range. adjust/cycle accordingly. it would be cool if you could have little views like they do on personalized google homepage. maybe you could specifically earmark folders of these two things (ideas/shares) you want to see first thing in the morning, etc. as an extension of this concept, you could do it with artefacts too... sort by price and * available (Updated: 22:07 30 Jan 2008) |
| A | Unknown | It'd be nice to see a tab up on top for us to see our own profile. (Updated: 20:17 30 Jan 2008) |
| Blood Spite | Unknown | My big idea would be a way to hide Idea's that we own artefacts in via the Bonds page. Would make searching for bonds a ton easier. My primary page I load is my profile page. I like getting my baseline stats in a eye view before I start my transactions. (Updated: 09:40 28 Jan 2008) |
| Brunhilde Esterhazy | Unknown | the first page i load is my profile. with a front page, i like the idea of being able to see your own graphs. and i think it would be kinda nice (or cheesy) to have a get to know your fellow players link by asking them a few questions. (Updated: 01:45 28 Jan 2008) |
| semar | My Page | My page information is the first page i load from blogshares. from there i can get many informations such as cash position, shares held value, ideas value, and so on. Perhaps it will be better if there's any information about ideas that can be raid. so far f (Updated: 18:40 27 Jan 2008) |
| Burns Financial | Ideas Updates | One of the best ideas I can think of, given how actively I and many others trade in ideas, would be to have a widget/box somewhere on th Profile page listing the last ten or fifteen ideas drops, with a quick-link to the Ideas Market page. (Updated: 10:19 27 Jan 2008) |
| Dash | Chip Market | I load diffrent pages first on diffrent days, but usually I check my messages first.... How about a way to trade futures contracts for chips? (Updated: 10:55 26 Jan 2008) |
| [CT] Harry Coen | Unknown | Info that could be useful / fun: How much tax have I paid in the last 24hrs? How much have I raided in the last 24 hrs? You already calculate how much is invested in ideas and how much gained in shares - display all this data on my home page. (Updated: 08:22 26 Jan 2008) |
| [CT] Harry Coen | Unknown | I start on the Mkt page, filtering out industries I already hold 10k ideas in, or have the arte for. Then it's the Artes page, to see if anything should be raided. Then it's the Bonds page, to see if there's any bargains. Then it's my profile page, to see how I'm doing. Finally, it's the rankings pages, to see what I need to do. (Updated: 08:17 26 Jan 2008) |
| Immunis | Profile | I start on my profile page. It gives me a quick look at where I stand in the rankings and all the numbers (ideas, shares, wealth, chips, etc.) so that I can see if adjustments need to be made. From there I go to my shares. More to come . . . (Updated: 06:13 26 Jan 2008) |
| Miss Melville | Improving Blogshares | I actually go to my shares page. Which is kind of weird cause I hate the shares play part of the game. I guess I like to get the housekeeping that goes along with shares over ... (see blog post for full text) (Updated: 05:43 26 Jan 2008) |
| DataLive MatrixZ | Unknown | When entering B$ I think it is important to see my profile page, shares port, ideas port, ideas market, recent idea drops, and the bonds page... and I load them in that order! Blog$hares main page should be a blog in one column and "news blocks" in another... (Updated: 22:21 25 Jan 2008) |
