We are creating a volunteer advisory board for BlogShares called the Math Team. These folks will have heavy input on the changes to the underlying algorithms powering the game: idea production, artefact usage, valuations, etc.
If you are interested in helping guide BlogShares, post a reply here (bb registration required) that explains why your background, knowledge and skills qualify you for inaugural membership in the Math Team.
Programming experience is a plus, to help the team understand the specific challenges in implementing any given request, but more important are:
- a thorough understanding of BlogShares play
- interest and experience in markets and game theory
- empathy for players both newbie and veteran
The Math Team will coordinate with the core programming team to determine the feasibility of any given proposal and spot potential side-effects and backlash. The processes will be informal and organic at first, getting more formalized as everyone learns how to best interact.
Our hope is that the Math Team will be able to pick out the good ideas presented by the membership at large, debate their merits and ramifications, and present to the programmers proposals that can be implemented without spending hundreds of hours reworking the code.
Democracy is a tricky model to implement in this environment, so we're asking for the best and brightest to come forward and represent the rest of the players who would like to see gameplay improve.
Side notes: For your health, you may not serve simultaneously on the BSEC and the Math Team.
We have a new suggestion box.
