Index Building and Cleaning... and Goats?!?!

With the launch of QuackTrack, and the birth of some shiny new index tools, we're asking for your help in cleaning up the index.

On any blog profile in BlogShares, you'll notice a Report Error link in the upper right-hand part of the page. Use this for the following issues:

Dead Blogs--these are blogs which have been abandoned at least 6 months. Index managers will determine if the site should stay in the game.
Non-blogs such as link-farms and regular websites.
Incorrect blog titles in the BlogShares system.
    Incorrect industries for a blog.

Please Do Not submit alternative URL suggestions or share discrepency issues through this link.

Great job, everyone. The index is clearly the most specific, accurate, and flexible categorization of blogs on the Internet, and will only get better with your help.

Goodbye Goats... Goats, industry #997, is being removed from the game today, December 15, at 9 PM system time. All ideas held in that industry will be destroyed, so sell them prior to that time. The other Goats industry, #996, will not be altered.

Say it ain't so Joe!

Thanks for the clarifications. Helps us help you!

I just came across a biography of a famous person (Donald Trump) in Recently indexed Blogs. It's got links to his books, etc. but no comments, not other posts, just a fairly detailed biographical post. Looks like a publicity page by a pr firm or publisher. Someone had categorized it as New York City. Is it a blog? How would you categorize it?

And is there a place to ask about this type of question in the forums? It's hard to learn how to categorize difficult subjects correctly.

Yeah, good question Marilyn. The Index Managers are working to get descriptions up for all the industries in the game, but with nearly 1200, you can imagine this take a great deal of time, especially since we are all player-volunteers working around other commitments. For now, the best place to ask questions or get clarifications is in the Index board in the forum.

With the Trump 'blog' , I'd have to see it before I could make my own decision on whether it is a blog or not, since there are many sites which are very borderline and difficult to determine without a first-hand look.

It's [http://donald-trump.blogspot.com/] for the record, though I don't mean to bother you for the answer.

I don't think it's a blog, rather an ad, especially since there are llnks to several other notable people, all in the same style. Obviously done by the same person/company, using the blogging format for other purposes.

Oops, forgot to preview. It's http://donald-trump.blogspot.com/

We've looked that page over, and the numerous other linked pages with similar one-post bios. They are borderline, but for now, they stay in the system.

Okay. Sounds good to me. Thanks for the answer.
